Australia and Fiji strike new defence alliance

SYDNEY, July 6 (Reuters) – Australia and Fiji on Monday signed a new mutual defence alliance as well as a treaty to strengthen economic and security cooperation.

The agreements mark an elevation of ties between the two countries, Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka said.
