Brazil downgrades diplomatic ties with Argentina after Milei remarks

SAO PAULO, Aug 4 (Reuters) – Brazil has informed Argentina’s ambassador that bilateral relations have been downgraded to the chargé d’affaires level, a source in the Brazilian government told Reuters on Tuesday.

Brazil’s ambassador to Argentina will not return to Buenos Aires after Argentine President Javier Milei again criticized counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the source said, confirming earlier reports in Brazilian and Argentine media.

Argentina’s foreign ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
